Program Overview
The environmental studies structured concentration offers courses that integrate social and scientific understandings of environmental issues, practical responses to environmental problems, and the narratives and values that shape interactions with nature and the natural world. The curriculum includes courses from a range of disciplines to provide the analytical, intellectual, and technical skills necessary to understand and solve environmental problems.
Each student will choose a primary and secondary concentration from one of two areas:
- Earth and Environment: focus on the natural sciences, including climate, ecology, geomorphology, and more.
- Environment and Society: focus on the social, political, economic, and cultural aspects of the environment and sustainability.
You will also complete a faculty-mentored research project or internship in your senior year to showcase your accumulated knowledge and techniques learned from your studies.
Specific course requirements can be found in the Course Catalog, below.
