The Double Major
Students who double major often broaden their appeal in the job marketplace and to complement their primary major. Because of the flexibility of the degree, it is easy to add a Environmental Studies as a second major! You’ll receive one diploma with both your primary major and the BS in Multidisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Environmental Studies:
- General Education Requirements: 40 s.h. (Gen ed courses for the primary major may also be used to satisfy the gen ed requirements for the second major)
- Does not requires 12 s.h. of a foreign language through level 1004, unless the primary major is a BA degree.
- Does not require additional Writing Intensive (WI) courses.
- BS Major Requirements: 30 s.h. of core degree
- 3 s.h. MULT 3500
- 3 s.h. MULT 4999 (Normally taken during your last year)
- 12 s.h. Natural Science courses + labs from “Core” list
- 9 s.h. Social Science and Humanities courses from “Core” list
- 3 s.h. Methods or techniques course, requires advisor approval
- Approved structured electives to complete 120 s.h. If any courses qualify as core or elective courses for both majors, they can be double-counted.
Total Hours Required: 120 s.h. (A minimum of 24 s.h. from sections 4 and 5 must be above 2999.)
